The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award you can earn as a Girl Scout ages 11-14.  The award recognizes your efforts in a range of Girl Scouting and community experiences, as well as your commitment to work to enhance your life and the lives of others.

You may work on the Silver Award with your troop or as an individual.  Be sure to ask a mentor to help you if you choose to work on this award as an individual.  The mentor could be a friend, relative, teacher, etc.  You and your leader/mentor will decide when you have completed the work.

The first four requirements of the award are opportunities for you to increase your leadership skills, explore career possibilities and develop yourself to your full potential.  You may do these in any order, but they must be completed prior to the fifth requirement, the Girl Scout Silver Award Project.  You should work closely with your adult mentor while completing all requirements.  To find out more about the requirements refer to the Girl Scout Silver Award Go For It Studio 2B focus insert (available at council shop).

Silver Award Timeline

  • Once you have started your project:
When you start your project send in a letter of intent to council.  This will help give other girls ideas of different types of projects.

  • March 15:
Your final Silver Award paperwork is due to council office by March 15th in order to participate at the council’s Annual Meeting held in April.  If you choose not to participate in the ceremony, your Silver Award Project must be completed before September 30th of your 9th grade year.

    Silver Award Workshop

Learn more about the Silver Award at Silver Award workshops.  You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about all the Girl Scout ages 11-14 recognitions.  Girls, 6th-9th grades, and their leaders/mentors are encouraged to attend.  Please bring your Girl Scout Silver Award Go For It Studio 2B focus insert, paper and pencil to take notes.
