Registration Procedures
Adult training courses are available to all adults as well as girls 14 years of age or older who are registered with Sahuaro Girl Scout Council. Pre-registration is required for all training courses to help “utilize our resources wisely.” To receive certification, volunteers must attend the entire training.

Please register for all trainings at least two weeks before the scheduled course. We can only guarantee that confirmations will be sent to those who registered two weeks in advance. Course registrations are evaluated seven business days prior to the course date and, in most cases, courses with less than five registered participants will be cancelled. Only those who have pre-registered will be notified of the course cancellation. Walk-ins will not be permitted to attend training sessions.

REGISTRATION AND FORMS
Register Online! (for trainings requiring no fee) Download Registration Form from our forms page. You may also download an Attendance Sheet for Trainings and Meetings from the Forms pages.

To register for a free training course, complete one training registration form (8-302) for each training course to be attended and:

  • Complete the training registration form (8-302), and mail/submit it to the Girl Scout Resource Center, C/O Registrar, 4300 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ, 85711.

  • Drop it off after hours in the "black box" behind the administration building at the Resource Center.

  • This form can be downloaded from our Forms pages.

  • Register online in the Forms section of this Web site for trainings with no fees.

  • Fax your completed registration form to (520) 795-3318.

Please Note: Registrations are not accepted over the phone.

To register for a training course that has a fee, payment must accompany the registration form, therefore, online registration is not possible at this time. Remember to complete one training registration form (8-302) for each individual training course to be attended. Faxed registrations will only be processed if credit card information is provided. Registration fees can be paid with cash, Visa or MasterCard (minimum charge is $10), check, or money order at the front desk of the Resource Center. Please don’t send cash through the mail or leave it in the “black box” behind the administration building at the Service Center.

Additional PAL training is also available through your service unit by contacting the Adult Development Department at 520-319-3181 or 1-800-331-6782, ext. 3181.

Refunds
In the event that council cancels a course, registrants receive a full refund of fees paid. If a trainee cancels their registration, fees will be refunded excluding nonrefundable deposits, only if notice of cancellation is received in writing at the council seven business days prior to the class date. Refunds will not be given if a class is not attended. There will be no refund for cancelled First Aid and CPR courses.

Bringing Children
Baby-sitting services are not provided at council-sponsored training courses. Children can become restless and are a distraction to the other participants. It is not acceptable to have young, unsupervised children in corridors or other rooms of the council buildings. If childcare is unavailable or becomes unavailable, contact the training department to reschedule the course to a different time. Adults bringing children will be asked to leave and reschedule.

What to Bring
For all training courses offered through Sahuaro Girl Scout Council, we recommend that you come prepared with pen or pencil, paper for note-taking, and your enthusiasm! You may also want to bring a closed-container beverage (such as a water bottle with a cap) and a snack. For all-day training courses, you may wish to bring a sack lunch to enjoy with other leaders during the break.

Please bring your troop resources (i.e. leader handbooks, leader packet, and Safety-Wise) to Daisy, Brownie, and Junior level training courses, as well as courses for Adults Working with Girls 11-17. These books are available (one set per troop) from your service unit. Additional copies are for sale in the Sahuaro Girl Scout Council Shop.

Bring Safety-Wise and Outdoor Education in Girl Scouting, if you have one available, for Outdoor Training courses (Exploring the Outdoors, Moving into the Outdoors–both Basic and Extended and Beginning Backpacking). Supply/packing lists are mailed directly to you with your course confirmation.

First Aid and CPR courses have no required items beyond what is recommended for all courses above.

Cancellations
If you are unable to attend a course for which you are registered, please cancel your registration by filling out the cancellation form available on the forms page. Cancellation form may be faxed to 520-795-3318, mailed to Sahuaro Girl Scout Council, 4300 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85711, or dropped off at the front desk of the Resource Center. Cancellation form must be received at least seven business days before the date of the session. This is “honest and fair,” “friendly and helpful,” and “considerate and caring” as the trainer will know the number of participants to expect and other volunteers may wish to attend what otherwise appears to be a full course.

Arrival Time
Out of respect, please plan to arrive 10 minutes before the training course is scheduled to begin to check in and receive materials. All courses will start promptly at their scheduled time. Completion of the class to receive certification requires on-time arrival. If a participant arrives more than 10 minutes after the course begins or leaves more than 10 minutes before it ends, the trainer has been authorized not to sign that participant’s training card, will advise the participant to retake the course, and course credit will not be entered into our computer system.
